Expression of interest for postdoctoral position in GW tests of general relativity at INFN Rome, Italy

We invite expressions of interest for a postdoctoral position at the Italian Institute for Nuclear Physics (INFN) in Rome, Italy. The postdoc will join the research group led by Dr Elisa Maggio, funded by the Italian Fund for Science (FIS) Starting Grant Eyes-on-GR, whose goal is to test general relativity with multiband gravitational-wave observations.

We are particularly eager to receive expressions of interest from candidates with experience in (i) data analysis and waveform modelling with current and next-generation detectors and (ii) modelling deviations from general relativity for horizonless compact objects and in modified theories of gravity.

The postdoc is expected to start between Fall 2027 and Spring 2028 and will last 2+1 years. The candidates must hold, or soon be completing, a PhD in Physics, Astronomy, or Astrophysics. Interested candidates should send (i) a motivation letter, (ii) a curriculum vitae, indicating the date the PhD was or will be awarded, (iii) a research statement, and (iv) two reference letters.

Expressions of interest should be sent by the candidates via https://forms.gle/dAFUY4fomNgZhuWy6, and reference letters should be sent by the referees via https://forms.gle/ojHnjRcRwF1XDhzA9. The deadline for submitting expressions of interest and reference letters is November 13th, 2026.

Please feel free to forward this announcement to potential candidates. For any other information, please do not hesitate to reach out to Elisa Maggio at elisa.maggio(at)roma1.infn.it.
