The Gravity Exploration Institute at Cardiff University has an open PhD position in gravitational-wave and fundamental physics instrumentation. The post will initially be focused on developing of a new optical readout scheme for laser interferometry, that uses photon counting instead of continuous-wave photodetection. The work will be developed in context with our world-leading table-top experiment, and is being funded by an ERC advanced grant.
