“Combining Gravitational Wave Observations and Black Hole Studies for Cosmological Insights”
INFN is seeking candidates with broad expertise in gravitational waves, black hole perturbation theory, and/or cosmology. Potential research lines span from characterizing the quasi-normal mode spectrum of black holes to cosmological inference with gravitational waves (GWs) in synergy with multiple astrophysical probes. Candidates with an interdisciplinary background are particularly encouraged to apply unti December 15th 2025.
The gravitational theory group includes three staff members: Mariano Cadoni, Leonardo Modesto, and Riccardo Murgia, plus several graduate and undergraduate students. The successful candidate will be working within the Sardinian Gravitational Wave Science (SGWS) Community, in tight collaboration with the GW data analysis group at INFN and Cagliari University, and the GW group at GSSI L’Aquila.
Broad research topic: Gravitational Waves, Black Hole Physics, and Cosmology
Eligibility: Non-Italian citizens, or Italian citizens who, at the time of the application, hold a position in a foreign institution and have been continuously abroad for at least three years. They must have a PhD degree or must obtain their degree before the beginning of the fellowship.
Deadline for application: 15/12
Deadline for recommendation letters: 18/12
