Postdoctoral Researcher Position in Theoretical High-Energy Multimessenger Astrophysics at the University of Amsterdam

Oct 25, 2019

The Anton Pannekoek Institute for Astronomy at the University of Amsterdam invites applications for a 2+1-year postdoctoral researcher position in theoretical high-energy multimessenger astrophysics. The position will be embedded in the research group of Dr. Philipp Mösta, which is part of the GRAPPA center for astroparticle physics. The successful applicant will also work in close collaboration with the group of Dr. Samaya Nissanke (multimessenger gravitational-wave astrophysics).
The deadline for applications is December 1st 2019.

The University of Amsterdam has a strong profile in the natural sciences, and has expanded upon that role with the founding of the GRAPPA center for astroparticle physics in 2012. There are also close ties with the Nikhef Institute, which is involved in LHC, KM3NeT and gravitational wave instrumentation and analysis. The research will focus on numerical simulations of compact object mergers and core-collapse supernovae with a particular focus on making connections to multi-messenger observations. The appointment is intended for an initial period of 2 years, with renewal for a 3rd year contingent upon funding and satisfactory progress. The start of the appointment will be October 2020, with some flexibility.
