Deadline for for expressions of interest: January 15th 2020.
The group invites expressions of interest from candidates willing to work on any of the following research topics:
- thermal noise in mechanical oscillators out of thermodynamic equilibrium
- quantum-vacuum squeezing techniques
- laser-cavity mode-matching sensing and control
- stray light analysis and mitigation
- high-performance OPLLs

The successful candidates will also have the opportunity to spend part of their research time at the Virgo site in Cascina, Italy.
The group counts 4 faculty members of the Department of Physics and Astronomy (DFA) of the University of Padova, 5 INFN researchers and 3 post-doctoral fellows. Active lines of research in gravitational wave physics include instrumental science, data analysis and astrophysical modeling. Laboratories are hosted inside the INFN Legnaro National Laboratories. Thanks also to the close collaboration with local INFN section, the DFA is ranked #1 physics department in Italy by the Italian National Agency for the Evaluation of Universities and Research Institutes, and has recently been awarded funding for an excellence program on the Physics of the Universe.
