Ph.D. Research fellow in Physics at University of Stavanger, Norway

The University of Stavanger invites applications for a Ph.D research fellowship in Physics at the Faculty of Science and Technology, Department of Mathematics and Physics. This is a trainee position that will give promising researchers an opportunity for academic development leading to a doctoral degree.
Application deadline is Thursday January 31, 2019.

The appointment is for three years with research duties exclusively, or four years with both research and 25% compulsory duties, this will be clarified in the recruitment process. The position is vacant from 01.02.2019, but a later starting date may be arranged.

The Department of Mathematics and Physics hosts research activities in Theoretical High Energy Physics, Particle Physics, Theoretical Nuclear Physics, Cosmology, Gravitational Waves, Experimental and Computational Material Science, X-ray and Neutron Diffraction. The advertised position will be filled with a candidate with a strong interest in one of these fields, with preference given to the following specialisations:

  • Lattice Field Theory (real-time simulations, spectral functions, machine learning applications).
  • Particle physics model building
  • Gravitational Waves (stochastic GW backgrounds, LISA data analysis).
