Ph.D fellowship in Theoretical Physics UStavanger

The University of Stavanger invites applicants for a Ph.D fellowship in Theoretical Physics at the Faculty of Science and Technology, Department of Mathematics and Physics. The postition is vacant for accession as soon as possible.
Deadline for application: October 15th 2020.

This is a trainee position that will give promising researchers an opportunity for academic development leading to a doctoral degree.

The appointment is for three years with research duties exclusively, or four years with both research and 25% compulsory duties. This will be clarified in the recruitment process.

The topic of the position is strong interactions at finite temperature and density. Relevant keywords include: Thermal field theory, out-of-equilibrium field theory, numerical field theory, phenomenology of neutron stars, gravitational wave astronomy, and phenomenology of ultrarelativitsic heavy-ion collisions.

The appointee will carry out research on at least one of these thematic areas. An ample budget for attendance at conferences and meetings is associated to the position.

The Cosmology and Particle Physics Group
The appointee will join the high energy physics and cosmology group of the University of Stavanger.

In late 2020, the group will include Ass. Prof. Aleksi Kurkela, Ass. Prof. Germano Nardini, Ass. Prof. Alex Nielsen, Ass. Prof. Alexander Rothkopf, Prof. Anders Tranberg, Prof. Tomas Brauner, Prof. Sigbjørn Hervik,  Adj. Ass. Prof. Laura Tolos and Adj. Ass. Prof. Korinna Zapp and around 13 Ph.D. and postdoctoral fellows.

Collaboration with the other members of the group and researchers working at renown European and non-European research institutes is foreseen.
