The “Advancing Theoretical Astrophysics” summer school will be held July 15 – 26, 2019 in Amsterdam, The Netherlands.
This two week program is designed to give practical hands-on experience in astrophysics theory and computation to early career researchers.
Covered topics include:
- Accretion and outflows around compact objects
- Angular momentum transport
- Order of magnitude estimates for astrophysical problems
- Version control/git
- Data visualization
- Bayesian statistics
- Basics of machine learning
The summer school prioritizes a supportive, collaborative, and diverse learning environment, where students will work together in teams during hand-on sessions. Limited funding is available to support travel.
Applications will open December 1, 2018 and will remain open until mid-January.
