Post Doctoral Associate at University of Florida

Sep 06, 2023

A Post-doctoral Associate position is available for the University of Florida LIGO group led by Dr. David Tanner and Dr. Paul Fulda. The postdoc will contribute to our research on two fronts. The first is research into materials and devices for future gravitational-wave detectors, with emphasis on the input and output optics of these instruments.  The second is the optical design of the Cosmic Explorer interferometer, the US third-generation detector, with detailed simulations of the performance of competing designs. Applications close: Open until filled.

Must have Ph.D. in Physics or a related area. This position will be initially awarded for one year, and, contingent upon strong performance, conduct, and availability of funds, may be renewed for up to three years.

The Department of Physics particularly welcomes applicants who can contribute to a diverse and inclusive environment through their scholarship, teaching, mentoring, and professional service. Please see https://diversity.clas.ufl.edu/diversity-statement/ for more information about diversity and inclusion in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences. The university and greater Gainesville communities enjoy a diversity of cultural events, restaurants, year-round outdoor recreational activities, and social opportunities.

The Postdoctoral Scholar will be a member of the UF LIGO group. She or he will contribute to our research on two fronts.
