The Department of Physics and Astronomy at the University of British Columbia in Vancouver invites applications from outstanding candidates for a tenure-track Assistant Professor.

Applications in all relevant subfields are encouraged and the successful candidate will create an independent research program which complements the existing strengths of the department, such as in Astronomy, Cosmology, Biophysics, AMO, Medical Physics, Gravity, String, and Quantum Information Theory, Condensed Matter Theory, Particle Physics, and Nuclear Physics among others. Candidates must have a Ph.D. Degree or equivalent, demonstrated potential for an outstanding research record, and are expected to teach effectively at the undergraduate and graduate levels and to supervise graduate students. The successful candidate will be appointed at the level of Assistant Professor.

The Physics and Astronomy Department (www.phas.ubc.ca) is one of the largest and most scientifically diverse in Canada. Our faculty and staff are committed to attracting and training outstanding students and conducting forefront research that spans the field.

A CV, publications list, a statement of research interests, and a summary of teaching interests and experience are required. Candidates should arrange for three letters of reference.

Review of applications will start Nov. 30, 2019 and will continue until the position is filled. The expected start date is Summer 2020, but is negotiable.
