Postdoctoral position at the Nicolaus Copernicus Astronomical Center (CAMK PAN) in Warsaw, Poland, within the project “Stars Near Massive Black Holes as Electromagnetic Sources and Future Gravitational-Wave Targets for LISA.” Application deadline: November 15, 2026.
The project focuses on stellar EMRIs/IMRIs as potential multimessenger sources for LISA. We welcome candidates with expertise across a broad range of areas, including stellar and binary evolution, hydrodynamical simulations of stellar interactions, stellar oscillations and tides, electromagnetic counterparts and tidal disruption events, and gravitational-wave astrophysics.
Possible research projects include modelling stellar interactions with massive black holes; connecting stellar-evolution and hydrodynamical calculations; modelling gravitational-wave and electromagnetic signals and their detectability; or interpreting EM sources/transients such as QPEs, QPOs, ULXs/HLXs, and exotic TDEs.
The successful candidate will collaborate with researchers at CAMK (including myself, Dr. Abbas Askar, and Dr. Verónica Vázquez Aceves) as well as with international collaborators. They will also be encouraged to pursue independent projects and develop their own research ideas.
Please feel free to share this announcement with anyone who might be interested. Any inquiries can be directed to aolejak(at)camk.edu.pl.
