The team at the Radboud University Nijmegen is involved in LISA because of its expertise on Galactic compact binaries.
Several studies combining theoretical simulations and dedicated observational efforts have made it possible to estimate the expected number of compact binaries that LISA will detect. In addition, the group is actively working on observations of the verification binaries and on determining their parameters from electro-magnetic observations. In collaboration with the Dutch National Institute for Subatomic Physics the Radboud University is setting up a National Gravitational Wave programme focussed on Virgo, LISA and the Einstein Telescope. The Radboud University group is specialising in the synergy of complementary electro-magnetic and gravitational wave observations.
